Smart Interconnectivity
The first element of smart instrumentation creates the foundation for smart interconnectivity. Smart interconnectivity takes data from smart sensors, actuators and other data streams to create smarter systems for households and businesses, putting people in control of their technology.
For example, the Shaspa Smart Thermostat for residential and commercial users is built on smart interconnectivity. Traditional thermostats only use room temperature to regulate heating or cooling relative to a set point. Our Smart Thermostat regulates heating using a range of relevant data including temperature, humidity, occupation levels and the weather. Through Shaspa’s smart algorithms the Thermostat is more efficient, saving money and improving comfort in the home or workplace.
Smart interconnectivity makes a range of services possible, such as:
-
Energy Demand Response – devices can be switched off or on depending on factors such as the price of energy or load on the grid
-
Automated home security and comfort – triggered by updates or location information from mobile phones or the car
-
Optimisation of customer choices – helping run appliances more effectively, for example a washing machine sensing hard/soft water and using the internet to discover the best detergent and optimal washing programme to use
Shaspa’s Service Delivery Framework takes smart instrumentation data from the Shaspa Bridge, and stores, analyses and takes action through a robust, scalable, cloud-based system.
Smart instruments and smart interconnectivity both combine to allow Shaspa to create Smart Shared Spaces.
