Mervyn Levin
Mervyn Levin is Founding Director of Levering Ltd, a digital media and ICT consultancy, established in 2003. Levering works closely with leading UK and Asia-based organisations across industry, the public sector and research community, sharing time between both continents with a base in the UK and Thailand.
Mervyn brings a unique perspective to Levering’s clients through his extensive experience and international network. This has given him a deep insight into strategy development coupled with a passion for innovation across the digital media and content industries, the associated technologies and trading/investment opportunities,
His roles include:
• Assessor and Review Board Panellist evaluating on behalf of the UK Government’s Technology Strategy Board project bids for Collaborative R&D Competitions.
• Board Member of six Collaborative R&D consortia which are part of the UK Government’s Technology Programme.
• Corporate Industry Advisor to Sheffield University which contributes to the University’s knowledge transfer activity.
• Asia Representative of UK based digital media organisations, e.g. Serious Games Institute which is part of Coventry University, and South East Media Network
• Senior Expert for the Beijing-based EU-China Information Society. The role includes coordinating research projects and delivering presentations to Chinese government departments, the research community/think tanks and industry on key aspects of digital content policy, innovation and practices.
• Council Member of the Beijing-based China Import and Export Software magazine, China’s leader in the field.
• Presenter at business conferences and universities in the UK and Asia.
From 2002 to 2007, Mervyn was Head of Digital Content Policy at the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) – formerly DTI.
Mervyn spent 22 years at Reuters between 1980 and 2002 where his last role was eService Director, based in Geneva, managing the creation of a global customer service organisation for e-business. His previous positions spanned a variety of senior international management roles, based in the UK, Latin America and Switzerland.
